Thanatos was the god or personified spirit (daimon) of non-violent death. His touch was gentle, likened to that of his twin brother Hypnos (Sleep).

The piece features a spontaneous improvisation, conjured out of the air, on my 10-string Marini lyre, in my attempt to evoke the distinctively dreamy characteristics of this ancient Greek god of eternal slumbers..
