Morpheus was the primordial Greek god of dreams. He shaped and formed the dreams, through which he could appear to mortals in any form. This talent made Morpheus a messenger of the gods able to communicate divine messages to sleeping mortals.
In attempting to conjure out of sound, the dream-like attributes of Morpheus, I used in this piece, the distinctively dreamy and feminine-sounding ancient Greek Hypolydian Mode (the equivalent intervals of F-F on the white notes of the piano), whose dreamy qualities are further enhanced in this track, by the extensive use of harmonics and repetitive, meditative melodic motifs.
