In ancient Greek mythology, Selene is the goddess of the Moon. She is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, and sister of the sun god Helios and the dawn goddess Eos. She drives her moon chariot across the heavens.
This piece, performed on my Luthieros ‘Lyre of Apollo III’, features the distinctively dark and intense ancient Greek Hypodorian Mode – formed of the conjunction of 2 tetrachords which form the equivalent intervals as A-A on the white notes of the piano, this mode was confusingly misnamed the ‘Aeolian’ mode by scholars during the Middle Ages.
