One of my very first original compositions for solo lyre from my album of the same title, this simple, meditative melody literally came to me whilst strumming my first acquired lyre, back in 2010 - once one becomes open to creativity, sometimes the recreated ancient lyre magically conjures these melodies straight into the air of its own accord!

The melody is in the ancient Greek Hypophrygian Mode - the equivalent intervals as G-G on the white notes of the piano but heard here in the intense focus of just intonation. For me, this mode always evokes a distinctive feeling of inner peace and contentment.

In this extended version, (featuring an additional melodic theme), all the simple themes of the melody are transformed by the deeper, much more responsive and elegant timbre of the recreated ancient Greek kithara - the only lyre truly worthy of Apollo!

I attempt to enhance the gentler timbre possible from the recreated ancient Greek kithara in this arrangement, by dispensing with the plectrum and instead, featuring only the softer, warmer timbre of purely finger-plucked strings, with just a delicate sprinkle of harmonics and tremolo.
