The essential spirit of the magic of the kithara of ancient Greece still can be heard today - indeed, the modern word 'guitar' was, in fact, originally derived from the ancient Greek 'kithara'; the lyre of the professional musicians of classical antiquity.

Kitharodes (the name for the professional performers of the instrument) were indeed revered in just the same way that rock legend guitarists are to this day - there were even regular kithara contests held, where demonstrations of creativity and virtuosity on the kithara were judged and prizes won accordingly.

This dreamy, solo guitar-style melody, features dissonant improvisations centred around the intensely introspective ancient Greek Dorian Mode (the equivalent intervals as E-E on the white notes of the piano, but heard here in the much more focussed clarity of just intonation), in my effort to evoke the feeling of being lost in a dream.
